Mayat seorang bayi dijumpai dibuang dalam keadaan mengerikan berhampiran kawasan pembinaan di Desa Relau, Paya Terubong di sini petang tadi. Mayat bayi yang dipercayai berusia sehari itu dijumpai kira-kira 4 petang tanpa tangan dan kaki serta alat sulit dipercayai telah dimakan oleh haiwan liar.

Seorang pekerja di situ Shanvogavellu, 30, yang menjumpai bayi itu berkata pada mulanya dia menyangka bayi itu sebatang pokok pisang. "Namun apabila saya melihat lebih dekat, saya dapati ia mayat bayi yang tidak mempunyai tangan dan kaki. "Saya terkejut melihat mayat bayi itu. Saya terus hubungi polis selepas memberitahu majikan saya mengenainya," katanya kepada pemberita.

Ketua Polis Daerah Timur Laut, ACP Gan Kong Meng mengesahkan tentang penemuan mayat bayi tersebut. Mayat bayi itu telah dibawa ke Hospital Pulau Pinang dan hingga kini polis belum mengesan pihak yang bertanggungjawab membuang bayi tersebut. Polis menyisat kes itu di bawah Seksyen 318 Kanun Keseksaan atas kesalahan cuba menyembunyi kelahiran dan menyebabkan kematian.
